Theft from vehicle, Jarman Way, Hemel Hempstead

Dear Resident

Between 2pm and 3.30pm on Monday 24th March a Black Ford Focus was broken into and cash and a bag was stolen. What might jog your memory, should you have been in the area, is that the owner had left her puppy in the car.

If you have any information relating to this crime (Ref 41/27655/25) please contact the police non-emergency number 101, quoting the above crime numbers crime numbers. Alternatively, you can give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity in the area.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
